VA Surrenders! We were at war with Japan. We called the enemy "Japs." We crushed them. They surrendered. The headline "Japs Surrender" captured the history of the moment perfectly. Shame on the VA for caving in to politically correct garbage. If someone doesn't like the historically telling and historically accurate headline that proclaims total success, I can only say, "Get over yourself." I am getting tired of the biggest sin being saying something that someone else perceives as "insensitive." They are overblowing the importance of their feelings at the expense of reality. They ought to just realize that they will not like everything they witness and that adults learn to cope rather than participate in juvenile bellyaching. The VA (and all other weak-kneed bureaucracies) need to tell these whiners that they are entitled to their opinions and their hurt feelings, but that those feelings need not lead to everyone else being forced to change their behavior. __________________________________ BTW, I entitled the thread with the same words as the headline to preserve, in some small way, the celebratory headline. We should be joyous that the Japs surrendered and that it was reported in precisely that way. |
