A Dutch lawmaker has made a film, Fitna, that blasts the Islamic religion and the Quran. He had a site, hosted through Network Solutions, on which he planned to post the 15-minute film. Network Solutions has received complaints and has shut down the site while they investigate whether the film violates their acceptable use policy.

Geert Wilders has promised to distribute his film no matter how hard some try to stop him. I don't see how he can be stopped. I have anxiously awaited this film, checking his site regularly for the video. Today, and error message from Network Solutions showed up instead.

Once a link is available to the film, that link will be posted here.

Whether or not Islam is a religion or a political ideology, whether or not Islam is a danger to the world are legitimate debates. We should have an opportunity to see this film and decide whether it is a thoughtful entry in this debate or a fanning of the flames, designed to cause problems.

Network Solutions has acted hastily (could it be out of fear of Islamic retribution?), before judgment even can be properly passed on Fitna. It would be reasonable, once they have viewed the film to say that their resources will not be used to propagate Wilder's film. However, they cannot keep this film from being distributed. To try to stop it before they have even seen it is unreasonable censorship.

Curious as to why such a big deal has been made. There is nothing new in the video, and the verses from the Koran have been paraded across 'some' parts of the media (mostly conservative radio).

Why should this even surprise anyone?
It doesn't surprise me...

Yeah. Just routine bashing of Islamic extremists. I think Muslims ended up promoting a pedestrian film with all their blustering and death threats.

Ironically, they probably aided those who are trying to remind us of the danger of Islamic extremism. Bad on everyone all around.

It is funny how religious extremists often make their own religion look bad to most people.

Although, it is very sad that some Jews, some Christians, and some Muslims murder in the name of their shared god. It's also odd considering the strict outlawing of murder in all three versions of the religion.

It is a common rhetorical ploy to lump all religious groups together, tarring them all with the same brush, even though there is a significant difference between them.

Of the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religions, only one's book calls for it's people to try to wipe out the other two. I hope that significant distinction is not lost.

As a Christian, I have no problem with people following the Muslim faith. I don't think it is the path to salvation (at least not for me; I will not say that God has no plan to save Muslims; that is HIS purview.) However, as a person, I'll say that Islam scares the blank outta me. Too many of the followers of Islam think that the book is telling them to do world-as-we-know-it-ending kind of stuff.
