I've always thought it was obvious, but some have routinely denied the possibility. Unfortunately...

Insurgents in Iraq get a boost from coverage in the news media that shows support for troop withdrawals from the war torn country, according to a study.

So what should the media do? Not report the news? Most of the country wants to withdraw, so this it is reported.

They should report the news in an even-handed way.

Have you heard that most Americans think the war is going well? That most of the country does not want an immediate withdrawal?

Probably not.

I don't know where you got that notion from, but according to this site:

As of 3/5, only 29% of Americans think the situation is improving
As of 3/2, only 34% of Americans think the war was worth it
As of 2/24, only 39% of Americans thought it wasn't a mistake to go in
As of 2/24, only 35% of Americans think we should stay in Iraq until it gets better

Edit: There's a lot of stuff there actually, with some polls below having some differences with the polls above. That being said, I very much doubt that most of the country thinks the war is going well.

As for immidiate withdrawl, most people want a gradual one.

Everyone, and I mean everyone wants withdrawal. It is a matter of whether folks want a unilateral withdrawal or they want a withdrawal based on success.

However, the media doesn't report it that way. They make no distinction. They make it sound as if everyone just unconditionally wants the troops out.

Anyway, the LATEST numbers say that 53% think that we will ultimately succeed in Iraq and 48% think the war is going well. Amazingly high numbers, considering how the mainstream media in general have been staunchly against the war and reporting almost exclusively the bad news. Notice how much LESS coverage the war is getting lately? Things are going well, so the media just shut up.

Pew Research Poll.

Not really showing up in the media, now, is it? It's there to be found--if you look for it.

The fact that you are unfamiliar with it kinda makes my point for me!

Pew Research is in the link I provided. Why base your opinion on one poll, when all the others say the other thing?

The point of the thread is the media bias and its helpful effect on the insurgents. The fact that you were not aware of this poll even though it was in the link you provided illustrates that bias!

The question is, "Why did the MSM ignore that poll? Why has the MSM ignored all the good coming out of the Iraq War?"
