Would you buy a used car from this woman?

Yes.

What a great story. I wouldn't care if the booze wasn't my kid's either - no booze means no booze no matter who put it in the car. Besides, to the best of my knowledge - the driver can get busted even if not drinking, if the passenger has been drinking in the car. My older cousin got completely plastered while I was driving - I got in a lot of trouble (big long lecture - I wasn't drinking and driving) from my mom since I could have been arrested had I been pulled over for anything else.

Maybe police should confiscate cars from drunk drivers...

What a great story! A lot of parenting stories are parents making excuses for their kids' bad behavior. this is a true breath of fresh air. I love this mother's way of dealing with this situation. Great. Thanks for sharing it!

I had the exact opposite reaction from a parent the other day. Rather than addressing her child's defiance, she justified why the child should have defied her teacher. It's frustrating. This lady is building a monster, a monster that will self-destruct as an adult!

The mom from the ad is building a responsible adult. He's not responsible now, but, I am sure, he will be more responsible than most young adults in a few years.

I want to know if my kid is acting like an idiot, so I can address it, not say how everybody else is in the wrong. Also, my idea of a jerk is a little bit more strict than many other folks. People are amazed that my 2-year-old says "thank you, Mama" when I give him something. I think it's amazing that others think it's amazing... "common" decency ain't so common anymore.

I am not amazed that you are amazed that others find your son's politeness amazing.

Your turn.

It takes my breath away. I am shocked, flabbergasted, astonished, staggered, dazed, baffled, overwhelmed, startled, dumbfounded, astounded, bewildered, floored, surprised, flummoxed, confounded, stunned, swept away, knocked for six, and quite taken back though apparantly not rendered speechless that you are amazed! ;)
