An ugly example of incivility

I am watching the Skins and Eagles. One of the Washington players' Mom had to leave the stands because a fan in Philly threw something on her.

It is a GAME folks. Get excited over it. But, why assault anyone??

Anyway, Mom is now watching the game from the sidelines.

Well, as you know, Santa Claus has been booed in Philly. Philly is a tough town. No excuse though for what you described. Pity.

Especially someone's momma! That's beyond incivility. That's barbaric.

I'm gonna' have to give an "AMEN" on that one! I AM a ballplayer's Mama, and that is just uncalled for! We had an obnoxious parent in our midst at one of our 9th-grade games. He was yelling - LOUDLY - at the coaches and players, and talking about how stupid one of our players was for not making a play correctly or something. Just so happens, that kid's Mom was sitting just below him! Then, as he is ranting and raving (we ARE talking about a 9th-grade game, here -- most of the fans are the parents and family of the players), he asks me why people "in the South" don't get "loud" at ballgames.??? (I don't know about ya'll, but being obnoxious and yelling at our underpaid coaches and fragile-ego football players is not the equivalent of being loud to me.) I have no clue where he is from, but I can only imagine he must be from somewhere where hockey and basketball are major sports, where the fans get really nasty. Any thoughts? (Especially anyone from the northern states?)

Uh oh, C. You gone and done it!

Back away from the cage very, very slowly. And don't make direct eye contact with the yankees. It makes them aggressive! ^_^

I didn't say yankees -- I said those from the northern states. Tennessee is northern to Alabama!

Everybody else has to know this is kind of an inside joke for me. I said the word "yankee" to my cousin {who grew up in VA & mostly IN} and uncle {who grew up in AL}, and started a major family war. But, I didn't not mean "yankee" in a derogatory sense. I could've easily said "someone who lives north of the Southeast" instead. I didn't mean it in an ugly way. Seriously! Don't listen to him. . . .
